Comments:
Today, we tasted local pineapple given by the auntie. It was sour and sweet, but because of its delightful smell, we couldn’t stop but kept taking one bite after another. We suddenly realized that because it is sour and sweet, it is the fodder for pineapple fillings. We were all grateful for eating them.

Comments:
We were in the computer room arranging the files of the journals. We first keyed in everything that we remembered, and we finished the rest by going through the pictures we had taken and the information we had drafted. We found that it was better for us to write down everything right away or we would forget most part of it.

4. Theme: Making School Carnival Bazaar Poster and Pineapple Sweetheart
Comments:
With the coming of school carnival bazaar, we spent morning self-study time and lunch break to make the poster for our booth, and we designed Pineapple Sweetheart. We chose black as the background color because black brought out the best of the slogan and Pineapple Sweetheart’s color. After a discussion, we decided upon the slogan and everyone cooperated to make it. My job was contouring the words and others were either busy with cutting down the words or making Pineapple Sweetheart.
The most time-consuming process was slogan typesetting and color matching of Pineapple Sweetheart. Finally, we finished making the poster several days before the bazaar. The phrase “Heaven helps those who help themselves” worked on us –our poster was a big success.

Comments:
This morning we took Farming Life class in the conference room. We learned more about the problems, contributions of agricultural products and also we were taught how to plant them and how to fertilize them to make them grow better.
And then the host gave us potting to experience planting. There were ferns and chrysanthemums and I got the chrysanthemum seedling. When we filled the potting with soil, we got three kinds of fertilizers. One of them was called “Lazy fellow fertilizer(懶人肥)” –the most special one—because one only had to fertilize the plant once a hundred day, and that was how it got the name. The class was very interesting.

that was how it got the name. The class was very interesting.
Comments:
We came to a little kitchen in our school basement to prepare the ingredients for making pineapple cakes. We weighed and distributed them in equal quantity to shorten the time of making pineapple cakes tomorrow. Everyone was given different tasks. Some helped with weighing and distributing flour and butter, others helped with weighing the fillings. Although we had different task, we still helped with each other. We had a great time today.

Comments:
Today, we cooperated to label the pineapple cakes; some of us labeled them, and others packed them. Everyone worked very hard, so we accomplished the task very soon, and we were happy. And then, we started to assign work. We were divided into three groups, two of which was going to sell the products and the other one— looking after the booth. Our teacher was assigned a job, too –taking pictures of us. We dismissed after we arranged everything nicely.

Today was School Carnival Bazaar Day. Our mission was to sell all the pineapple cakes. To attract customers, we placed each pineapple cake on the table and, as we had divided our classmates into three groups, two groups went on promoting the products and one of them took care of the booth and sold the pineapple cakes. We opened at nine in the morning and, beyond our expectation, the customers flowed in. Before long, the promotion group came back for more pineapple cakes to sell. Less than two hours, our pineapples cakes were sold out. We were surprised and happy.

Comments:
Today, the teacher picked some fragrant guavas for us to taste. We first tasted the green ones; although they were soft but they still got the crisp taste in them. They smelt better than Pearl Guavas. And the yellow ones melted in our mouths –we didn’t even need to chew. Although they had bitterness in them, they smelt even better than the green ones. Under comparison, Frafrant Guavas smelt better than Pearl Guavas, but Pearl Guavas tasted crispier. Either way, both of them tasted great!cakes were sold out. We were surprised and happy.

Comments:
Today was Hosiery Guava Festival that was held once a year. People came pouring in. We were divided into footwear selling and guavas selling groups.

We peddled with socks in hands to attract customers. When we saw the smile on the boss’s face, we smiled, too. And in the interval, we asked him many questions.

Q1. Why do you sell socks? A1. Because it is family business and we are the second generation to take over it.
Q2. How do you tell the bad from the good ones? A2. We check them by putting them on our soles.
Q3. How to tell the difference between each type? A3. We can tell by their texture.
Q4. Which type of people are your main clients? A2. Women, especially young women.

With a hard-working afternoon, both groups accomplished our missions. We want to introduce this splendid festival to more people and show them the special products in Shetou –guavas and footwear. We hope to make their reputations worldwide.

The following is the note of the guavas selling team:
At first we felt awkward to peddle, but at last we plucked up courage and went “Delicious guavas. You are welcome to taste them.” We got rid of our embarrassment when we found out that it was actually fun. We handed out the samples when we saw customers coming. Some bought them after tasting them. The wife of the boss gave us some Pearl Guavas and local guavas as rewards.

In the meeting, the teacher informed us on the schedule and the to-do list, and we were allocated the website-making job. Then we tasted the local guavas brought back from Hosiery Guava Festival. The first bite gave off the fragrance of the guavas. Although it was a bit bitter, I still loved how it tasted.
Besides, we also counted the money and we got the sum of 6,000 NTD. The teacher asked us to pick some books to donate to the school library, and we were happy that we were of help to our library. At last, we decided to name ourselves Little Explorers.

We spent our lunch break learning how to edit the website and the pictures. The teacher used the projector to show us the steps and we tried to do it on our own and found that it wasn’t difficult at all.
