My First Hosiery & Guava Festival
Home > Sock Factory Treasure Hunt > My First Hosiery & Guava Festival
Location:
  Guocai Market in Shetou Township
Facts of Shetou’s Hosiery & Guava Festival:
Each year, hundreds of thousands of visitors come to the Festival, which is held by Changhua Shetou Township Office and Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs. Nearly 300 textile manufacturers and hosiery factories based in Taiwan join the Festival, boosting the economy together with local special goods producers. Stepping into its 9th year, the annual Hosiery & Guava Festival in Shetou has been a national fair. With 300-400 thousand tourists each year, the Festival successfully sells Shetou’s hosiery and guava.
My first selling experience:
It was the annual Hosiery & Guava Festival today. There were tons of people in the market, and we were going to sell socks and guava. We were separated into two groups; one selling guava, the other socks.
My First Hosiery to sell guavas:
We didn’t know how to peddle our guavas for more attention at first, but through the teacher’s demonstration and the encouragement from the stand owner’s wife, we started to shout about our fruit. Though we were not that loud at the beginning, little by little, we became more comfortable with it and shouted out loud. Then, some people stopped by and had some pieces of guava for a taste, and we successfully sold many guavas. The stand owner’s wife saw our hard work and let us have a break. When we were leaving, she even gave us free Taiwanese guavas and pearl guavas.
My First Hosiery to sell socks:
When we started, we peddled hardly with socks in our hands, “Four pairs for 200 NTD! Come here!” “Various styles, cheap and high quality!” “Come here! Come here!” There were a lot of people in our stand, picking and shopping for their socks. With the smile on the owner’s face, we were glad as well!
Comments:
Through an afternoon’s hard work, we, both groups, finished the mission. We were very glad to see the fair being held so successfully in our hometown. We were also glad to sell our local special goods---guava and socks---to people who came to this Festival as well. We hope the activity will go better and better and let the world know our local special goods! After the selling, we followed our teacher to look around in the market, and each of us got an ice-lolly from her! Then some of us left, and the rest went to see a performance together. It was indeed a happy ending.
