2. Who assisted or participated in the research?
1. Our school faculty fully supported us: The principal, directors, teachers and volunteers helped guide the children to make and package pineapple cakes; held the position of lecturers; offered vehicles; be there when we needed them. They were our biggest motives.
2. Community residents supported us and offered help: Mr. Che-Tsung Hsiao(蕭哲宗) and Kao Feng Food Factory offered the places, received an interview, transferred the knowledge and shared experience with us. We learnt a lot from them.
3. Shetou representative, Mr. Tuan-Tsai Chiu (邱團財) offered help: He helped us to find the guava sellers to guide us to sell guavas, and that showed us different aspect of life.
4. SOHO Footwear Factory faculties: They welcomed us with hostility, and zealously introduced us the history of Shetou footwear and taught us how to many sock dolls. They completed our hunting game.
3. How our team personally or cooperatively played the role of ambassadors:
■The Pushers of the Research Atmosphere: Through the research, many students are inspired by the little explorers and begin to be interested in exploring local special products and that further nourishes the research atmosphere.
■The Little Pioneers of Promoting Local Specialties:
1. To promote Shetou pineapple cakes, we decided to DIY and sell them. We received the support from the faculty and parents. We harvested a lot of pineapples as the ingredients of pineapple cakes and received a lot of praise and recognition.
2. We little explorers become the experts of pineapples, guavas and footwear. We presented to our classmates our achievements and experiences and at the same time, promoted the local innovative and diligent spirit.
■The Little Sellers in the Community:
Being charged with the mission of promoting local specialties, we became little sellers. We reinterpreted the value of local specialties through a different set of eyes and conveyed the local down-to-earth spirit, hoping to get the attention of teachers, students and local personalities.
4. Websites and Intellectual Property Rights:
The information and the pictures are mostly written and taken by our team members. The citations are also marked in the reference. Please ask for agreement if you need the information. If you want to quote us, please mark the source.
5. Influence and Impact:
1. Members:
After many interviews and sources collecting, we started to see how precious our hometown is. It is a piece of work woven by hard work and unconditional devotion, and thus, we want to share the website with people all over the world, to let them see how beautiful our hometown – Shetou — is.
2. School and Community:
Our research pulled the local farmers, businessmen, and residents closer to our school and our little members feel the hospitality and warmness from them.
3. Residents and the Environment:
We hope our website shows to the world the experience and the information we hope to convey and also show them the down-to-earth spirit in Shetou; further promote the local specialties.
6. Discovery, Lessons and Surprise:
Discovery
  1. The ordinary local specialties possess certain level of economic value to Lessons 1. Before the inter view, we need to absorb a lot of information and practice our hometown.
  2. We know more about how guavas and pineapples are planted and grow. We also get to see that when we take a bite, we are actually tasting the farmers’ hard work.
  3. The reason why pineapples are wrapped in the leaves is because the leaves will protect the pineapples from getting scorched and make them juicier.
  4. Bagging guavas can keep pests away from guavas, lower the amount of chemicals used on them and at the same time, keep them fresh.
  5. The original way to make socks is to frame the stocking and that takes time and efforts.
  6. If the front of socks is bulged, the socks are hand-made; if it is plain, they are made by machine.
Lessons
  1. Before the interview, we need to absorb a lot of information and practiceasking questions; otherwise, we will not know what to ask during the interview.
  2. Remember to take notes because you will need them to remind you of the important details.
  3. Finish taking notes of the interview right after the interview was done; otherwise, you will not have a clear memory of it.
  4. Don’t save the files in only one place. Save them often and in many places so you don’t lose them by accident.
  5. There is always a possibility of members pulling out in the middle of the mission and sometimes things don’t go our ways. We have to be prepared for different possibilities.
Surprise
  1. It is admiring that the auntie takes good care of the pineapple field all by herself.
  2. Cheese powder is added to the pineapple cakes and gives them delighted smell.
  3. I am surprised that the uncle cannot spray pesticide over guavas but they are taken good care of and are so sweet and delicious.
  4. The weed mat helps to restrain the growth of weeds and also prevent the grass to gain the nutrients from the guava trees.
  5. I didn’t know there are so many insects that are coveting after guavas! Even though guavas are bagged, many insects still want a bite of it. That really requires much hard work from the farmers.
  6. You don’t need scissors to unpack the socks. That is some new package design.
  7. The sock machine speeds the socks-making process and brings more convenience.
